It all begins with a single thought. For myself, I always loved fashion. Therefore it was always my idea to be in design, at least that’s what I always wrote down every year in school. It was all part of my being in high school, as well as the bleach splattered pants, ceramics class crew and my homemade purses. When it came time to determine where I would go to college, why wouldn’t I pursue FIT. I spent way too much time at Joann Fabrics for swatches and sketching out ideas. When the day came for when I would go into FIT for the design exam, I can still remember looking around the room and being blown away by the amazing talent of my peers. From the moment I left, I believed we had different ideas on what the preparation and competition would entail. While I was initially waitlisted, I still chose to go to Art school. It ended up being exactly where I was supposed to be.
Upon graduation, I decided to get a “real” job and ultimately took the easy way out. Years went by and I eventually said enough was enough, I took a risk and started over. I began working for an art auction house in New York. Cataloguing, photographing and even taking in consignments.Being around creative, like-minded people really enabled me to make the jump into where I am today.
